"The cast is gorgeous, though. . ."

-Laura Collins-Hughes

The New York Times, (NYT Critic's Pick)

"June’s girlfriend, Elle, the future medical school student, played robustly and intelligently by Mykal Monroe. . . is overly stressed out and desperate, trying to understand both anatomy and her girlfriend’s over-anxious psychology."

-Ross

frontmezzjunkies.com

"Laura Ramadei is June, convincing as the strong-willed sister who is ambivalent about her feelings toward Elle (well portrayed by Mykal Monroe, who is also East Lansing Amy)."

-Barry Bassis

theaterscene.com

"The five roles are equally featured; no one stands out, really, because they all do. . . Laura Ramadei captures June’s frustration with Charlie’s issues without a sliver of doubt about her love for him, which also informs her complicated relationship with Elle, played with wry humor (and frustration) by Mykal Monroe."

-Philip Dorian

sceneonstage.com

"As Anna seduces us and the others, June’s current lover, the feisty Elle (Mykal Monroe), becomes outraged fearing she’ll lose June. As the brilliant medical student, Monroe is Ramadei’s foil. Their interactions ring with authenticity."

-Carole Di Tosti

blogcritics.org

"The academic struggles that medical student Elle faces are very familiar to many New York theatregoers; at one breaking point, she frets about her 'staring contest with a picture of a coracobrachialis muscle for 45 minutes,' and admits, 'The body’s stupid.  I hate it.' In that regard, however, it is troubling that although the characters are generally supportive in varying ways, June (and the others) do not seem to care about Elle’s study issues. It is a credit to McMullen, and the fine actor playing Elle, Mykal Monroe, that we in the audience so strongly empathize with her."

-Miles Harter

"Monroe's performance as Esther makes her changes gradual and subtle, but they are also unmistakable by the end of the story. The honesty with which her character's story is presented is the gift to the audience for accompanying her through a lonely and sad journey.”

-Elizabeth Cobbe

The Austin Chronicle

“Mykal Monroe gives a remarkable performance as Esther. . . Monroe's performance is spellbinding. She captures your attention in every moment, and she is a pleasure and a treat to watch.”
